Honduras vs Jamaica

So last night we, Melvin, Noé, Luis, Manuel, Eduardo, Ramón, Bobby, Katie, Emily, Alexa, and myself went to watch Honduras play against Jamaica!!! It was a blast!! It rained probably 4 different times throughout the match. Most of us were cold afterwords lol. Going to a soccer game to watch the country you live in play is an awesome experience. This was the second game that I had been to. People go absolutely nuts to support their country! We saw some very interesting things! lol. Every time the stadium does the “wave” we end up with trash all over us, because they toss it in the air every time they stand up to do it! Other times trash is just thrown just for the “fun of it”. Then you have the “very mature” men in the crowd who have had just a tad to much to drink or just because they are immature blow up condoms and hit them around like a beach ball! There was a lady who climbed up on the wall and took off her shirt and swung it around going crazy (that lasted about 10 minutes!). Besides all of the craziness we had an amazing time hanging out with the college guys! They always have something interesting to say or to add to a conversation! I view them all as my brothers and I am proud to do so! They are very protective brothers as well! They make sure they can see you at all times lol.

Yesterday I also got the chance to meet Ingrid’s baby Said, my sobrino! He was so cute! He doesn’t look anything like his mother haha. I wish I would’ve taken pictures of him to share with everyone, next time for sure!!!

As I am writing this post today, I am sitting in the airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras waiting for my flight to the US. I am excited to be able to go home and hangout with my family and friends. Being able to catch up with as much people as I possibly can in a short 2 week span! I will probably do a few posts while I am home, I look forward sharing my adventures state side as well!

Randomness

So I don’t have anything that exciting to write about so….I thought I would just talk about the school :-)

We had a couple of teachers this year give birth to baby boys! The third grade teacher had a boy and named him Diego, and the the second grade teacher had a boy and named him Said (Si-eed) after his father. Both are back in the school now, with the second grade teacher returning this past Tuesday. We were very excited to have them back!

We are nearing the end of the school year, we have about 3 weeks left and then exams! The kids are getting anxious and you can definitely tell lol! Either way, they are having fun and learning. Tomorrow in PE we are going to be doing a 4 on 4 on 4 soccer tournament with each grade. They absolutely love it! It is especially challenging because there is no goalie, which just makes it so much harder! I will take some pictures and post them tomorrow.

Other than that, not a whole lot going on right now :-) I will be heading to states next Thursday for a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to hanging out with my 4 year old nephew!! Pray that I will be able to meet with some churches to receive more sponsorship for Niños de la Luz and the missionaries involved. Some Birthday Fun!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lapse in time without a post! It’s been a pretty busy week and a half!

Last Sunday Katie, Bobby (other missionaries here) and I took the September birthday boys out for their birthdays. We took Luis (21) and Oscar (13) to Pizza Hut for lunch followed by a movie in the mall. We ended up seeing El Guardian del Zoologico (Zookeeper). It was a great movie and it was still quite funny in Spanish. Luis was laughing quite hard in some parts haha. Oscar was super excited about doing pizza and a movie that he did not stop fidgeting and talking since the moment we got out of the van lol. He and Luis were so thankful about getting to go and hangout for their birthdays. We initially started it for the August birthdays and I guess it is going to be a tradition now :-)

Also this past week we have been playing a lot of soccer in the mud due to all of the rain! It’s a lot of fun until you slip and fall and you have mud EVERYWHERE! haha. The boys truly enjoy playing soccer every moment of every opportunity to play. We have had some fruit blossoming over the past month called Leechas. I know it may sound gross, check out the picture below, but it is really good! We have three or four trees that are currently growing rapidly. The green ones are more sour than the red ones. They are the same fruit one is just more ripe than the other.

I just wanted to let my followers know and those who read my blog, that I am looking for people to donate $20/month. That’s $5/week. That’s one fast food meal or a

Starbucks drink. The money will go towards the birthday celebrations as well as being able to take the boys out to different locations for FUN! If you’re interested you can go to my donate page to find out how to donate or you can email me directly at Lolschewski@gmail.com
God Bless You

Back to School

So this week we returned to school after a week of vacation. It’s always hard to get back into the swing of things after you take a week off. The boys were back on grind mode, making sure they did their homework. This week the 4th and 5th graders had quite a bit of homework. They did homework from the moment they got out of school until about 4ish (breaks for lunch and devotionals).

We have had an awesome week of devotionals with Bobby Huff leading them. We have talked about community and family, and how our family at Niños de la Luz is just like a family and a church at that. We don’t have to have a building to have a church, we have each other and we come together to talk about God and get a filling of His Holy Spirit. Some of the boys have even been sharing verses they like and ideas that they have. Others have been landing a hand in the praise & worship time with Doña Irma and Ramon (the educator). Yesterday Mary passed out maracas and one tambourine. Let’s just say it was quite noisy at first lol. Then the boys got into it, shaking their maracas and singing! I am going to take a picture and maybe a video of it as well!

Other than that it has been a pretty normal week. Nothing too exciting! Tomorrow we will have a chance to play majority of the day…I hear soccer is on the schedule :-) haha.

*From today’s devotional…enjoy!

1 John 4:7-13

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another, No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. We know that we live in him and he un us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

Love God. Love People.       (Ama Dios. Ama Gente.)

The Last Hoorah!

So this post is a tad late….haha

Last Saturday we went to a place called Glenda’s Paradise for the last hoorah of the week off of school :-) . It is a place about 30-40 minutes away from the project and it is AMAZING! It has natural hot springs up a little ways in the mountains, as well as a hot pool and a kids pool. They have a soccer field to play soccer in the most beautiful place! Not to mention they have hammocks EVERYWHERE! That is exactly where you would’ve found me!! haha I got to rest all day and some great conversations with some of the older boys that went. Throughout the day it rained off and on and didn’t stop one person from having fun! They played soccer and swam in the rain. Some even laid in hammocks to enjoy the cold rain!

One of our volunteers in the school paid for the boys to eat lunch, and boy did they eat! They truly enjoyed the food at Glenda’s Paradise!! Everything from chicken, fish, to some good ole chuletas! (grilled meat).

After lunch it was back to playing in swimming! There was even a game of king of the pool. The boys would literally tackle each other into the water haha. The boys from young to college enjoyed their time at Glenda’s Paradise and I am sure they want to go back.

*If you would like to donate money for the boys to do cool things like Glenda’s Paradise or movies or anything just fun, let me know!!! Your donation can be made on the donate page. Or if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, that information is on the donate page as well!

Enjoy the pictures from our trip!!!!!!

Independence Day

Today, September 15th is the Independence Day for the country of Honduras! They gained their Independence from Spain on September 15, 1821. Today marked the 190th year of FREEDOM! The celebrations took place all day and all over the place. The festivities started with a march through downtown La Ceiba. We had three of our own boys march for their school, San Isidro. One of our boys, Elvin was the leader of his group and got to yell out the commands. He was wearing aviators! haha. Mary said he looked like Tom Cruise from Top Gun ;-D. Ramón wore similar garb as Elvin, but he a marching in the group. Marlon, the youngest of the three, wore a completely different outfit! It’s hard to describe so take a look at the video below!! It was a cool seeing other schools march as well. There were even MARCHING BANDS!! Not to mention they were GOOD!! It seemed to me like they wanted to dance a whole lot more than the marching bands in the states. It’s funny to think of marching bands without football. Especially in high school, but hey, they were there and they rocked! (video below). Once we got back to the project some of the younger boys were upset because they were not allowed to go to the march. With the 7 little ones running around in that chaotic downtown, would’ve been hard! After about 10 minutes they were fine and ready to play. We played some more ping-pong today, Wilmer is getting better everyday! He even beat Luis. Wilmer is 12 years old and Luis is 21! haha The boys are in the process of writing books for their computer class, so they have been dedicating some time to them each day. I can’t wait to share them once they are done!!

On Saturday we are going to place where there are pools and different areas to play soccer and hangout. It’s the last hoorah before we go back to school to finish out the year! The last day of school is November 11!

Below you will see some videos and photos from the last couple of days

Disfrutalos (Enjoy them)
